Mustard

Mustard, Silver Fawn fancy/pet rat

D.O.B: approx Apr/May 2007

Variety: Silver fawn

Health: Respiratory infection Feb '08, occasional poryphrin round eyes. Died of unknown causes 11th September 2008.

Mustard was rehomed here in early July 2007 along with Pepper when they were advertised free to a good home on a local website as their original owner had got two kittens and no longer wanted the rats. They settled in with the other rats with a minimum of fuss and took a couple of weeks to get used to being picked up. Mustard is the smallest of my rats and has only just in the last month gone up in weight to over 300g. I think it is because she is so active and just burns up all the calories she eats very quickly. Mustard's favourite game is to escape out of the play pen, which she does by climbing up the wooden wall, one front foot hooked round the door, the other on the wall! She is always awake and always the first to the door to come out. She squirms like a snake when she's picked up but is luckily friendly and happy to climb on us. She was the first of my rats to weave her head to help her focus and occasionally demonstrates her reduced eyesight by nipping me when I make her jump.
