Welcome to Northern Lights Rats

Northern Lights Rats is home to my rat care website. Currently, my rats are enjoyed purely as pets, however, I am also interested in genetics and breeding and am planning on starting breeding in early spring 2010. I will be working towards Champagne, British Blue & Apricot Agouti in self. Breeding rats with excellent health & temperment are my main aims, but I will also be working towards producing rats with type and colour as per the NFRS standards, so I can show my rats. I am based in Wick, in the Scottish Highlands.

I am a member of the National Fancy Rat Society (NFRS) and the Scottish Rat Club (SRC) and travel to as many shows as I can.

Detailed information on the care of my rats is on the Husbandry page. The rest of the site is full of general rat care information and resources. My blog is updated regularly with news and stories about my rats.

I chose the name Northern Lights because I wanted something to reflect my position on the map. Northern Lights rattery will be registered with the NFRS and the name will be used to identify rats I have bred. It isn't an NFRS stud name.
